One of the guests we met at the Living Room is Maggie, a young mother with four small children at home. When you first meet Maggie, her beautiful smile would not let you know that she is at the end of a long battle with cancer, and her days are few. Maggie’s biggest fear and worry is for her children. Her husband works 12 hours a day, for a mere dollar a day, in an effort to keep the family afloat, which forces the children to spend most of their days alone. She often thinks about her children’s future without her. After she passes away, will they be able to go to school? Will they be loved and cared for?

We traveled two hours, along bumpy dirt roads to meet Maggie’s kids and her husband,. During this journey it was clear to me that we were thousands of miles away from our comfortable home and that my life would forever be changed by the experience.
